Aventurine is a form of quartz most commonly a transparent green with platy mineral inclusions that create a shimmering optical effect called aventurescence.

The name aventurine is from the italian phrase ‘a ventura’ meaning by chance.

Aventurine may be other colors than green, but green is the most popular, and originates in India and often has the nickname ‘Indian Jade’. It is often used in lapidary work by jewelers.

It is believed to have various spiritual or healing properties including cleansing, calming and pain reducing properties, among others.
