Tiger Iron is a rock composed in part of Tiger Eye (a yellowish-brown pseudomorph of compact Quartz after the fibrous mineral Crocidolite, with a chatoyant layer), primarily with Jasper and Hematite and sometimes has Chert and other Quartz as well. Each mineral appears as layers within this rock. Tiger Iron is mined in Australia. Tiger Iron is one of the oldest stones man has worked with, being formed more than 2.2 billion years ago.

In crystal healing Tiger Eye is said to express the metaphysical qualities of each of its component bands of minerals. This multicolored gem is said to be a stone of strength, stamina and courage. Tiger Iron is said to be very useful for self healing. Also said to help in generating creative solutions and ideas.
