About Meteorites

A meteorite is a solid piece of space debris typically originates from an asteroid or a comet or a meteoroid from outer space. It is what remains of the debris after it passes through the earth’s atmosphere. The chemical reaction, pressure and heat generated when space debris enters and passes through the earth’s atmosphere causes the debris to heat up and be partially consumed. A meteor is what is left of the meteorite.

Meteorites, or generally speaking categorized into three types: stony, iron, and stony iron. Stony meteorites are, well stony, while iron meteorites contain high percentage of iron among other elements. stony meteorites can be further broken down into two subcategories, the chondrites and the achondrites. We’re distinguishes the two is the presence of grainy inclusions called chondrules. There are many famous meteorite finds. Campo Del Cielo is the name of a meteorite that fell to earth between five and six thousand years ago in Argentina, leaving 26 craters and its wake. another famous meteorite is Canyon Diablo which fell in Arizona. Other well-known meteorite falls include the Holbrook meteorite fall, Tunguska meteorite, Chelyabinsk meteorite fall, and the Allende meteorite fall.

About Tektites and Moldavite

Moldavite is a type of tektite or natural glass formed when a meteorite impacts the Earth. The high velocity and extreme heat of the meteorite when it hits the Earth melts the surface material forming the glass. This glass can have many different colors, including black, yellow, brown, and green. Tektites can be found many different shapes, including spheres, dumbbells and teardrop shapes among others.

Their number of different well-known locations for tektites. One of them is the Sahara desert from which an often yellowish meteorite impact glass called Libyan glass hails. Another well-known region for tektites is Germany and the Czech Republic from which ruled famous moldavite comes. Moldavite is a green tektite prized not only for its beauty and collectibility, but also by spirit healers a metaphysical practitioners for its metaphysical and healing properties. Moldavite was made famous where the world renowned metaphysical investigator Robert Simmons.
