Description
From Marlborough, Queensland, Australia. Chrysoprase is an apple-green variety of chalcedony. The green color is caused by tiny inclusions of Ni- (Nickel) bearing layers silicates (willemseite, népouite or others). Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica, composed of very fine inter-growths of quartz and moganite. Chalcedony’s standard chemical structure is SiO.
Chrysoprase was used by the Greeks, Roman and Egyptians to make seals, signets, jewelry and other ornamental objects because of its vivid color.
Since chrysoprase is a type of chalcedony, it carries chalcedony’s healing properties. As well it is said to be mood-lifting, cheering, supportive, and healing for the spirit, in times of depression, sadness or coping with the darker parts of life. Also said to help let go of anger, and focus on the positive, rather than being overwhelmed by the negative.
