Description

Dioptase on Plancheite, Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia. Ex Coll. Clive Queit

Choice, inadequately describes this combination piece consisting of sharp, well-formed Dioptase crystals on a bed of sublime pale blue very rare Plancheite. The light blue hue of the Plancheite groundmass strongly compliments the textbook emerald-green Dioptase. The largest of the Dioptase clusters is almost 1 cm, presenting interpenetrating, sharp, translucent, very rich crystals with internal gem-like fire and sublime glow. This piece is highly aesthetic, with the Dioptase clusters perched along the apex of the piece as if gemstones on a crown. Plancheite is a very rare copper silicate-hydroxide species from Tsumeb, and this combination of color and minerals is exceedingly rare and highly desirable. This piece was sourced directly from notable Tsumeb collector Clive Quiet almost forty years ago and has been in a private collection ever since. 30 x 25 x 10 mm (thumbnail).

30 x 25 x 10 mm (Miniaturbild).
