The Morenci mine is a “porphyry copper deposit” in Arizona that has been in production for decades and is the largest copper producer in North America. Besides copper and Azurite, minerals such as Malachite, Chrysocolla, Hematite, Tenorite, Cuprite and others are found during the mining process and recovered for collectors.

“Porphyry copper deposits” are copper ore bodies that are formed from hydrothermal fluids that originate from a large magma chamber below the deposit itself.
