Description

Here is a museum quality slice or slab of Arizona Rainbow Petrified Wood displaying blues, reds, yellows and rust colors. We acquired it unpolished and selected to polish one face to maximize it’s color and texture.

We acquired this specimen from a Rockshop in Holbrook Arizona that was permanently closing. Holbrook is the closest town to the Petrified Forrest National Park. They purchased their specimens from private land owners outside the park.

Arizona Rainbow Petrified Wood is is considered one of the most colorful petrified wood’s in the world. Many of the pieces are up to 99.9 percent quartz and can be polished to a mirror finish like one face of this one. Ideal as an art display in your home. Much of the Arizona Rainbow Petrified Wood comes from the Chinle Geologic Rock Formation. This formation dates back to between 200 to 230 million years old. Along with petrified wood, dinosaur bones and the bones of giant crocodile type animals are also found there.
