Sonora Sunrise, also known as Sonora Sunset or Cuprite Chrysocolla, is a visually striking copper oxide mineral that features a mesmerizing blend of vivid red cuprite, blue-green chrysocolla, and black tenorite banding. Discovered relatively recently in 2006 at the Milpillas Copper Mine near Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico, this stone is named for the spectacular sunrises of the region, which its colors vividly evoke.
