About Orthoceras

Orthoceras is a middle Ordovician marine nautiloid whose shell has been fossilized. Scientifically, the term now refers to a specific cephalod from Sweden and the Baltic States, but in the past and and even now it refers to any of a number of species of extinct cephalopod that grew a straight conical shape. Many of the Orthoceras fossils now found are from Morocco.
