Tennessee Agate Cut Perfectly Into 2 Mirror Image Pieces Of Quartz Filled Vug

This is a single piece of Tennessee agate that originally showed a single cut side displaying red agate band on yellow agate band against a field of black agate with a botryoidal center. The agate bands are surrounded by a moss like red and clear agate as shown in one of the pictures. The back side showed its natural red shape.

We decided to make an additional cut along the backside. A location was selected and the cut was made.

We polished this to a mirror finish.

Originally we thought these were Kentucky agate. We were able to consult with two experts who concluded this is actually from Tennessee.

Large piece:

5.5 in L x 6 in W x 1.375 in thick

2 lbs 1oz. Or 937g

Smaller cut piece:

3.25 in L x 2.75 in W x 1.5 in thick

7.625 oz. Or 218g

So with this sale you will get both cut pieces showing the 2 cut and polished faces plus the original unpolished face.

These pieces show remarkably few fractures. Be sure to zoom in on pictures to see the few small fractures.
